Game Setup

• Equipment: The game consists of one ladder, with three horizontal rungs, and six bolas (two golf balls connected by a rope). Each player or team has three bolas of their colour.

• Distance: Set the ladders approximately 15 feet away from the designated toss line. Players stand behind a designated toss line, which can be adjusted for younger players or different skill levels.

Gameplay

Starting the Game: A coin toss determines which player or team goes first. Players take turns throwing their bolas at the ladder.

​Throwing Bolas: Each player throws all three bolas in one turn, aiming to land them on the rungs of the ladder. Bolas can be thrown in any manner, including bouncing off the ground.

​Scoring: Points are awarded based on where the bolas land:

​

• Top rung: 3 points

• Middle rung: 2 points

• Bottom rung: 1 point

• An optional bonus point may be awarded for landing all three bolas on one rung or one bola on each rung.

​Winning the Game: The objective is to be the first player or team to score exactly 21 points. If a player exceeds 21 points, their score for that round does not count, and they retain their previous score. 

​​

Additional Rules

• Players must not cross the toss line until all bolas have been thrown in a round.

• Players can distract their opponents while they are throwing, but physical contact is not allowed. 

• In case of a tie, players will continue to play overtime rounds until one player is ahead by at least 2 points.
